Sellerdeck has been a part of the UK ecommerce scene since the 90s and many empires have been built on their proprietary PC software. I've worked with it since 2007 so know it inside out: both it's strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, the very nature of the platform (it's a PC only program that publishes to the web) makes it not just restrictive but positively old fashioned.
Historically once clients are trapped in the Sellerdeck ecosystem, it's generally more trouble (and expensive) than it's worth to migrate away from it due to its restricted export options. The site is able to export ALL of the site's data into a single spreadsheet of their own design which means very little to any other platform's import protocol.
Well, the good news is that has all changed in 2025 and not because Sellerdeck have been overcome with remorse for not making it easier but thanks to the phenomenal capability of AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Perplexity.AI to make sense of, rearrange, clean and tidy data into an importable format.
I discovered how good these engines were with spreadsheet data earlier this year when I had to merge multiple spreadsheets from manufacturers to compile importable content for another platform. Having struggled with Excel formulae and farming out to data analysts I simply fed the spreadsheets into ChatGPT, explained in detailed PLAIN ENGLISH what I required and it just did it. It's proved a massive time saver and i've been able to parse the export data from Sellerdeck into usable data for any ecommerce platform. Not just that, but to clean up the horrendous proprietary tags that have to be added for even the most basic text formatting of product descriptions.
So, now you know. We can take your Sellerdeck (or Actinic if you're still using a really old version) and squirt it into Opencart, Woocommerce or Shopify.
