If you are a freelancer or small agency then there will always reach a point where you need something more sophisticated than post-it notes to manage multiple tasks and projects. We all need a little help to get organised! The four applications I feature here are all cloud/subscription based and have all been used within my Bournemouth web design agency and have both their strengths and weaknesses so lets get cracking!
Trello
Trello has been around for quite a while and it's strength lies in organising data in a highly visual manner with boards and cards which can be dragged between each other. It works well collaboratively and looks good on different platforms/devices. Best for: small teams and freelancers. Http://Www.trello.com/
Hector
Now, I REALLY like Hector as it is limited to just two functions: projects and to dos. that might sound odd but sometimes you want something so simple that just allows you to get organised. This one is not a collaborative tool (at the moment)but the developers are committed to adding extra features to the app, so best for freelancers only, but once again very clean and very visual. Asana
Why, Trello, have YOU been working out? This is the application that Pixelhaus uses to manage projects, freelancers and tasks and it does it well. It will feel familiar if you've used Trello but the entry level subscription allows for up to 10 users in a team for free so a really good prouct to test out in your agency. It integrates well with other platforms such as dropbox and zapier and once again looks good across multiple platforms and devices. Best for: teams of up to 10. Http://Www.asana.com/
Quire
This is the one to watch. A relative newcomer to this busy area: it's currently free to use while their enrich the feature set and can be used for teams of up to 30 across multiple organisations. It has a similar look to Asana but less busy, so it appeals to my aesthetic! I'm currently trialling this application and so far have been nothing but impressed by the look and ease of use. Definitely one to consider for any trype of user. Best for small to larger teams. Http://Quire.io/
